Rund um den Henninger Turm

The annual semi classic The Rund um den Henninger Turm Frankfurt held on May day saw the race split with a nine man lead group moving clear.

It was from this group that Team CSC's Karsten Kroon out sprinted Davide Rebellin (Gerolsteiner) and Mauricio Ardila Rabobank).

Kroon win adds the 2008 crown to his 2004 success, while Rebellin missed out on his second title after his 2003 victory.

Team Milram's Christian Knees had featured strongly in the break and he said afterward, "It's too bad, shortly before the finish I was still third. I would have liked to have held on to that,“ He belonged to a 19-rider strong group, which got away after 90 km on a climb in the Taunus and stayed away until the end. By the end, the difficult climbs had reduced the group to nine. Knees also said, "My legs were very good today and I felt very strong underway." "I was surely the strongest on the team today and put a lot of pressure on myself. But I was able to cope with that and think that I did a good job in the captain's role.“
