Tour de Bretagne

The Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk squad are onto race three of their French adventure, and they welcome back Chris Newton after injury for the Tour de Bretagne stage race. Rabobanks's 2008 World Cyclo Cross Champion and 2007 race winner Lars Boom heads the entry.

The Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk team is Chris Newton, Tom Diggle, Rob Partridge, Ryan Bonser and Kristian House.

Stage one Arzon - Sarzeau, May 25
As anticipated there was a bunch sprint for the stage win was the outcome of some fast and furious racing on the first stage. A break of two riders was caught with less than 50 metres to go. The race ended in a mass sprint won by big Dutchman Coen Vermeltfoort (Rabobank)

There were mixed fortunes for Rapha Condor Recycling.co.uk, Chris Newton punctured in the early part of the stage, something he didn't need was a chase back through the convoy when his nerves were all ready frazzled, but chase he had to and he managed to get back on after a few hectic moments.

Kristian House was next with a puncture, his chase was less frantic and he was quickly back in the safety of the bunch.

Kristian had joined a short lived break at about two thirds distance but the constant high speeds saw it come back fairly quickly.

With six kilometres to go a crash in the peloton took out Ryan Bonser along with half a dozen spokes in his front wheel, gravel rash and minor bruising is the initial diagnosis, he got up and after a wheel change rode on to finish a few minutes behind the main field. The crash caused a split in the field which left Chris, Tom and Adam in the back half, so don't look for us in the team prize today.
