La Vuelta ciclista al Pais Vasco 2008

The La Vuelta ciclista al País Vasco 2008, (Tour of the Basque Country) is held in the fiercely independent Basque area of Northern Spain from April 7 to 12.

The six stages feature many tough climbs making this a must win race for many Basques, Spaniards and other mountain goats.

Alberto Contador (Astana) must start as favourite as he and his team continue to show that their omission from the Tour de France is unfair. Cadel Evans (Silence Lotto), fresh from his win at the Coppi Bartali stage race, should also feature, but with all the big teams racing, it wont be easy for anyone.

Stages
Etapa 1: Legazpi - Legazpi (137 Kms) April 7 (Mountains all stage)
Etapa 2: Legazpi - Erandio (153 Kms) April 8 (Mountains at start and then bumpy to finish)
Etapa 3: Erandio - Viana (195 Kms) April 9 (Mountains - AGH!)
Etapa 4: Viana - Vitoria - Gasteiz (171 Kms) April 10 (Mountains, a cat 1 near the start with more cat 2s later)
Etapa 5: Vitoria - Gasteiz - Orio (162 Kms) April 11 (Mountains - three 3rd cats and one 2nd cat)
Etapa 6: Orio - Aia - Orio (20 Kms) April 12 (A bumpy individual time trial)

Total: 838k
