Welcome

The Muur

We love bike racing, not just the action, but also for the history and the characters - in fact every aspect of our sport. We also love the fact that races such as the Tour de France or Paris Roubaix are played out on roads we can all ride.

We recently rode over the Muur, a climb made infamous as the launching pad for many Tour of Flanders wins. Having strained our legs and lungs we sat in a local cafe where we were almost unable to restrain ourselves, the sense of place being overwhelming. We want ProTourNews to express some of that enthusiasm we felt that day.

We contemplated a new website covering Elite level cycle racing when the Tour de France came to London in 2007. We were enthused by the great reaction we got from you to LeTourGuide, our contribution to the Grand Depart in London and Kent. Like millions of like minded fans (And a huge army of happily confused 'civilians') we got caught up in the great buzz that reverberated across the World and buoyed up by the London 'Grand Depart' we were inspired by the idea of reporting on Elite cycle sport throughout the year, and that is what ProTourNews will do.

Fans such as you and I need a place to exchange thoughts, stories and ideas, and 'ProTourNews' aims to do that.

The site is in 'Beta' mode at this time and as we test it we would love you to get in touch with ideas and comment.

John Mullineaux (Director Sportif)

Although I am unable to ride anymore, I,m with you all the way in spirit,
especially on the big lumps. I have followed the Tour since 1949 and
watch all I can.
