Cofidis Team RXR 07

The Time RXR TT in Cofidis team colours

The French Cofidis Team have been campaigning the Time RXR in 2007 and at the 59th Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, Bradley Wiggins used the bike to win the prologue. Hopefully he will do the same in London in July 2007.

TIME spent time in the wind tunnel perfecting the design of the RXR with two times World Time Trial Champion, Michael Rogers doing much of the work, when the company were involved with the Quickstep squad.

Time use a composite manufacturing technique used in the aviation industry called 'RTM' (Resin Transfer Molding) where the technology combines the use of tubular woven braids (layers) of carbon with pressure injection of the resin into a mould with precise internal and external dimensions.

RTM technology combines total freedom of shape with consistent production dimensions and resin content. The tubular woven braids and integrated inserts are placed in a closed mould and the resin injected under pressure to eliminate voids and air gaps.

Time's infuential 'MultiCoque' construction technique splits the frame into a small number of monocoque sections which are then joined together to make the whole. This permits greater size variation at less cost than a true monocoque construction, and a similar idea is used by an increasing number of top-end frame manufacturers.
