Mark Cavendish on winning form 07

Mark Cavendish is on fine form

After three wins recently, Mark Cavendish has scored his first win in a ProTour race. Cavendish beat all challengers, including Baden Cooke, to win stage 2 of the Tour of Catalonia.

The 22 year old rider is understandably happy, saying: “To win a race on the second stage of my first ever Pro-Tour race is incredible. My season with the T-Mobile Team keeps getting better and is another fantastic confidence boost, especially on a hilly stage like the Salou to Perafort.

A day after turning 22, Cavendish's team mates worked hard to close down the break-of-the-day and deliver him to the front - the perfect birthday present for the young speedster, who made good use of his explosive top-end speed to finish off the job.
