Olympic Women's TT

Team GB @ Schedule @ BBCTV @ Track Medal

Women's Time Trial Bejing Olympic Games

Emma Pooley riding off fifth set the benchmark time for all the following riders and only Kristin Armstrong of the USA was able to beat it.

Pooley followed her strong road race performance by being the fastest until the very last moments and she led all at the first time split. She had to wait until the final six riders to start before her time came under threat. Eventual winner Kristin Armstrong (USA) was down on time to Pooley at the top of the long climb, but she was able to make up her loses on the descent.

Armstrong also had the advantage of knowing the time to beat, and just maybe, if Pooley had gone in the final group she might have won.

Olympic road race champion Nicole Cooke was outside the top ten with a time of 37.14.25

It really is a shame that Pooley went so early - if the otehrs had known her time she might have won.

They all had a target time to match, she didn't.

Great stuff by her nonetheless.
