The Vuelta a Burgos 2008 covers a total of 800 kilometers during the five days in and around the Spanish city of Burgos in Castille. Medina de Pomar Villarcayo (147,7 km)

Stage 1 Medina de Pomar / Villarcayo (147,7 km)
Andrey Kunitski (Acqua Sapon)e has won the first stage of 150 kilometers from Medina de Pomar to Villarcayo.

Kunitski won alone ahead of Frenchman Julien Lobet (AG2r) and Caisse d'Epargne's Xabier Zandio.

The three had escaped from a 31-rider strong escape group with 15 km to go, and which had gained over seven minutes over the main race, but lacking any real cohesion they didn't respond when the attack happened.
